One of the big fears most of us have as parents is that our child isn’t “normal”. And one of the big markers of this “normality” is how our child behaves when they’re upset.
Over the generations, tantrums were seen as the child being possessed by the devil. As something to be beaten out of them. Children needed to be “civilised”, usually by increasingly harsh methods.
